It began over chai neither of us ordered and a downpour neither of us expected. One borrowed umbrella, three hours of conversation, and a shared suspicion that Tuesdays deserved more credit.

There was no grand sign — just a quiet city below, string lights above, and the sudden certainty that every future we could imagine had the same person standing in it.

The wedding week begins — the matkor is carried out as mothers, aunts and families gather for the first blessing of the days ahead.

The safa is tied and the sehra blessed — the groom is readied with prayer and song before the evening's procession.

The groom mounts the ghori as the family dances him onward — drums, garlands and joy in every direction.

The procession sets out — band, baaja and the whole family dancing the groom to the venue gates.
